How does Patchwork facilitate recruitment on to the bank?

Patchwork facilitates the recruitment of clinicians to a trust's bank. Clinicians can apply to join a trust's staff bank directly via the Patchwork app, either via the Internal Pathway (Activation Requests), or the External Pathway (Review Applications). 

This is how to manage both of these pathways on the Patchwork Hub:

Activation Requests

The list of locums here are those that have indicated that they are internal to the trust, (i.e. currently working at the organisation they have applied to be activated at). Steps to activate on Patchwork:

  • For the clinician you wish to activate, click on the grey 'Action' button and select 'Accept'
  • In the pop up box, fill in the fields:
    - Authoriser (your name)
    - Position (your job position)
    - The rest of the fields are the clinician's information
  • When completed, click 'OK'

The clinician will receive an auto email informing them that they have been activated on Patchwork for this organisation's staff bank, and that they can begin booking bank shifts.


Review Applications

The list of clinicians here are those that have indicated that they are external to the trust, (i.e. have never worked at the organisation they have applied to, or used to work sometime in the past but currently do not hold a bank or substantive post). Please see the steps below to move applications through the various stages.

  • Click on the clinician's name to view their full profile and review their experience.
  • If so, click on the green 'Shortlist' button, to move their application to the 'Shortlisting' tab.
  • Export the clinician's profile (or if there's not enough information, then request an up to date CV) and share this with the department(s) that you think the clinician could work in.
  • Once the department has confirmed they would like to proceed with the application and arrange an interview, move the clinician's application to 'Pending Offer'. Select the 'Shortlisting' tab, click on 'Action', then 'Accept'. Enter your details (Authoriser and Position).
  • Now you are ready to invite the clinician for a face to face interview, and continue with the pre-employment checks (document checking, references, DBS, etc). 
  • Once you are ready to recruit the clinician onto the bank, navigate to the 'Pending Offer' tab, click on 'Action', then 'Accept'. 
  • In the pop up box, fill in the fields:
    - Authoriser (your name)
    - Position (your job position)
    - The rest of the fields are the clinician's information
  • When completed, click 'OK'
  • The clinician will receive an auto email informing them that they have been activated on Patchwork for this organisation's staff bank, and that they can begin booking bank shifts.
